What is rubbing off on you?

Ever get inspired... by someone else’s inspiration? Their “chutzpah?” Their “getup and go?”

Tired

On the heels of an awesome holiday weekend and the exodus of my house full of family, I am tired.

Aspirations

I had big aspirations for today. Catch up on “mount-wash-more,” Pay the bills, walk the dogs… but I’m so tired, I just want a nap.

A blacksmith in the family

Something just happened though, my middle son is heading off in his free time to use his new found metalworking and blacksmithing skills to build armor. Who does this, right? My son. He has pursued this new expertise as part of a rare and often painful hobby he took on a couple of years ago in a group called, “S.C.A.,” or Society of Creative Anachronism. Actually, as I research a little deeper, the part that he is involved with (where the participants dress in armor and beat each other with heavy sticks,) is only one part of a whole big world the organization has created.

Contagious

He is so motivated to get this armor project done that he has been spending all his time on it. It warms this mother’s heart to see him totally immersed in creating something useful from nothing. Actually not just heartwarming, but even contagious. I actually feel like I “caught” some momentum from him as he excitedly bounded out the door.

Truth

I guess this is true of a lot of things. It is often easy to have another’s energy rub off on you in a negative way. I am glad today to be experiencing the opposite.

Energy Vampires v. Cheerleaders

Do you have people in your life who energize you? I call these people my “cheerleaders.” Do you have people in your world who bring you low? These soul suckers are “energy vampires.” We all likely have examples of both camps. Becoming aware of this who’s who, can be an excellent guideline to help yourself set boundaries or standards for with whom you want to spend your precious time.

Quality

Just like food, water and exercise, the quality of your circle of friends can either nourish or deplete you. Often increasing your momentum in the direction you want to go or cutting it off.

Influx

Today I’m glad I noticed that influx of positive energy....enough at least to write this blog. .....Now for that nap.
